Interoperability between infusion systems and a health system's EMR software presents new opportunities for improving IV infusion safety, patient care and clinical workflows. During this session, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Jennifer Biltoft, who has helped implement infusion device connectivity to the EMR across her health system; she will share successes, challenges, and key lessons learned from the project.

BD is breaking new ground with a first-of-its-kind medication safety system for IV injectables, designed for seamless EMR integration. The BD Intelliport Medication Management System utilizes real-time documentation, dose measurement, drug identification, and allergy alerts to help address the most relevant challenges with delivering IV bolus push drugs. It utilizes an HL7 framework derived from IHE PCD-01 enabling direct, bidirectional integration with hospitals' existing EMR environments.
